Descripción del servicio

The ancient physicians who first practiced acupressure and acupuncture, using the Pressure Point system, were probably (Oriental) shaman mystics, monks, and masters of the martial arts, as long as 2,500 years ago, and possibly much longer. The entire Oriental medical system is a vast and formidable edifice of knowledge that encompasses many different Oriental philosophical concepts. However, in general, treatment is directed towards re-balancing the pattern of disharmony that has affected the individual, by influencing the Ki, or life-force energy, which is considered to flow through the body in a network of channels or meridians. What is reasonable to surmise is that warriors who were called to battle on a regular basis, would get wounded and need medical attention. They would probably have been helped by other martial art warriors and masters, who had accumulated medical knowledge, in order to help their comrades. In this Master Class, Lecture Workshop, we will look briefly at the Origin, History & Theory, of the Oriental Pressure Point System, and discuss the concept of Ki - The Universal Life-Force Energy, which is at the heart of Oriental Medicine and the Oriental Martial Arts. In practical terms, working with a partner, we are gong to learn 5 Pressure Points, plus a special bonus point, which can be used to assist First-Aid recovery. The points that will be learnt can be used in conjunction with modern First-Aid measures, in circumstances where a student may begin to feel faint and/or unwell during training, and the instructor, or a fellow student, is called upon to render some assistance.
