Pressure Point Combinations
For Defence & Counter-Attack
Service Description
It is generally not known whether in the mists of antiquity, techniques which employ the use of Pressure Points arose out of compassionate doctors looking for better ways to alleviate suffering, or out of a need for martial warriors to be more lethal in disabling or destroying an opponent. Whatever the case, Pressure Points techniques are used both in Oriental Medicine and Martial Arts, to achieve effective ways of helping in the healing of a sick or injured person, or to aid in the submission and neutralization of an assailant … In terms of the Oriental Martial Arts, the complete system of disrupting, disabling & destroying an opponent has five different physical target areas and several methods of delivering strikes. 1) THE BONE SYSTEM: Targeting Specific Bones & Joints 2) THE ORGAN SYSTEM: Targeting Specific Organs 3) THE BLOOD SYSTEM: Targeting Specific Blood Vessels I.E. Arteries & Veins 4) THE NERVOUS SYSTEM: Targeting Specific Nerves & Nerve Plexus 5) THE ENERGY SYSTEM: Targeting Specific Acupuncture Pressure Points In this Master Class, Lecture Workshop, we focus on the fifth target area - The Energy System, where after an initial defensive block, special hand and foot strikes to specific Pressure Points are used to target an assailant’s Ki system, to disrupt, disable or destroy their life-force energy. Although based on the Maek Chigi and Maek Chagi Pressure Point technique set, participants will learn the exact anatomical locations of the Pressure Points which are combined and targeted, and discuss the physical and energetic consequences of the counter-strike, to add another dimension of interest, and more importantly skill, to an already known set of techniques.
