Leading with Vision, Built on Standards

This landmark weekend marks a major step forward for Han Guk Mu Sool®, as senior Masters & School Owners come together at our new HGMS Headquarters in Hastings to shape the future of our art.

Led by Chief Master Philip D. Holmes (9th Degree), the seminar offers a bold and thoughtful blueprint for standardising core elements of the HGMS curriculum. Joined by Chief Instructor Master John Gravenall (8th Degree) and Deputy Chief Instructor Master James Barker (6th Degree), this event brings together the association’s most senior minds in a shared mission: to raise standards, align principles, and deliver a stronger, clearer pathway for all students and schools.

Seminar Highlights Include:

  • The HGMS Training Vision, a new era of structured, educational martial arts

  • Standardisation of hand strikes, leg strikes, and blocks

  • Introduction of new beginnings and endings for Ki exercises and forms

  • Detailed review of empty hand and weapons forms

  • Standardised coloured belt syllabus

  • Introduction of pressure point theory

  • Foundations of medical knowledge integrated at Dan level

  • Presentation of proposed rank titles and ceremonial uniform standards

  • Emphasis on the 10 Principles of Coordination as a core framework

Building a Legacy of Knowledge

Chief Master Holmes has set a clear direction: to elevate the teaching of Han Guk Mu Sool® by ensuring that every movement is understood, every method has purpose, and every school owner and instructor is supported with a deeper, more connected approach to training.

This event is not just about alignment, it is about progress, clarity, and pride in the art we pass on.
