Han Guk Mu Sool is incredibly excited to announce that Master Jay Lee is joining the Association as our Director of Studies. Master Jay will have a focus on supporting the Association with its strategic, high level, thinking, academic approaches, methodologies, as well as a range of other topics.
Jay Lee started training in Korean kuk sool in 1974 while serving as a US Marine and continued to actively train into the early 2000s. He had practiced other martial arts for several years prior to focusing on kuk sool. In 1985 he became the lead tactical trainer for the Houston Police Department and for ten years trained law enforcement officers from dozens of other federal, state, and local agencies. Lee has a Ph.D. in Kinesiology from the University of Houston. He later worked as a sport psychology consultant and was listed on the United States Olympic Committee sport psychology registry.
He served as a Senior Performance Enhancement Specialist for the US Army. He recently retired from New Mexico Highlands University (NMHU) as the Department Chair of Exercise and Sport Sciences. In addition to serving as department Chair he is a past-president of the International Reversal Theory Society and current Editor of the Journal of Motivation, Emotion, and Personality. Today he a Visiting Professor at NMHU and works as a consultant and advisor to health and sports organizations.
